%X Cities have been growing in accelerated rates and often do not present an appropriate urban planning, which may affect environmental quality and thermal comfort. One of the main effects of urbanization is the formation of Urban Heat Islands. In this perspective, the present study aims to estimate the Land Surface Temperature and analyze the Urban Heat Island formation in the city of Santos-SP. To conduct the study, LANDSAT 8images were obtained for row/path 219/77 in the dates 12/12/2015 and 7/7/2016. From the images processing, thematic maps of NDVI and LST were produced using the new Land Surface Temperature Plugin for QGIS. Intense thermal emittance was observed in the port area of Santos due to areas with asphalt and concrete, which radically alter radiative and thermal properties of the urban surface. These results, associated with the low values of NDVI, contributed to an increased LST in both seasonal periods. In places with higher concentrations of vegetation, slight lower temperatures prevail, with values between 24°C in the summer and 17°C in the winter.
